Regulations for SCCHE Social / Educational Functions and Field TripsOur homeschool cooperative represents Christ; therefore, we must strive to teach our children to behave in a manner that honors the Lord. Since our reputation as Christians and homeschoolers is very important, the following regulations have been adopted for all social functions and field trips. 1. PARENTS:
2. CHILDREN:
3. RESERVATIONS Reservation in the form of a General Registration Form (found in your handbook) or other specific registration forms are required for most social/educational functions and each field trip. You are not considered registered for the activity without a properly filled out Registration form, fees, and, if required as in the case of field trips, either an e-mail address or a self-addressed stamped envelope for confirmation purposes.Read your newsletters to stay informed about upcoming social/educational functions and field trips. 4. GROUP SIZE LIMITATIONS Occasionally a group’s size and /or ages allowed will be limited. Please respect this request. There will be no exceptions. 5. CANCELLATIONS Cancellations need to be made as soon as you know you cannot attend the event. This could make it possible for someone else to attend who may have been placed on a waiting list. You may “sell” your spot to someone else, but refunds will not be issued. Unused funds will be placed in the general SCCHE fund. 6. ATTIRE Attire for all social/educational functions and field trips should be respectful, modest, and in good taste, remembering that these are school outings. Dress that includes revealing underwear, directing attention to particular body parts, is torn, too tight, too loose, too short, or has crude/rude sayings is considered inappropriate. If any event/field trip requires specific dress, it will be communicated in advance. 7. CLEAN UP Courtesy demands that we leave facilities in good order by properly disposing of trash and leaving the area in as good as or better condition than when we arrived. And specifically pertaining to Field Trips . . . . 8. ARRIVE EARLY Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early for each field trip, and wait outside until all have arrived before entering the place of business. This shows respect for our guide and host by minimizing the disturbance to those at work. 9. PARENTS Please save socializing until after the function-don’t miss teachable moments with your children. 10. COURTESY Thank yous after a field trip are as important to the children as to the recipient. Signing a group thank you card is acceptable and encouraged. Sending a personal thank you card or picture for an especially beneficial tour is also recommended. The field trip coordinator will have addresses for you. 11. PERMISSION SLIPS In the event that you will not be accompanying your child on the field trip, the parent transporting your child or the field trip coordinator will need to have a signed permission form from you releasing SCCHE and its members from any and all liability. If the form is left with the attending parent and not sent to the field trip coordinator, he/she must still be notified as to which adult will be responsible for your child(ren) for that field trip. Please make any necessary arrangements in advance, not at the field trip site. These regulations have been adopted in order to clearly communicate the values embraced by our homeschool group pertaining to social/educational functions and field trips. Since we have only one chance to make a good impression for our Lord and our association, these regulations will be lovingly, yet firmly enforced. We encourage you to reread these regulations often. Please support these regulations and convey the importance and seriousness of them to your children. Let us use these regulations as an opportunity to renew our commitment to excellence in our home education and to each other. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10:24 The Executive Council
Field Trip GuidelinesA few gentle reminders:1. To register for a SCCHE field trip or activity you must:
Without any of these items you are not registered. For convenience, it is a good idea to have copies on hand of both the Field Trip/Activity Registration form and the Permission form (in the SCCHE handbook). 2. Always mail your registration form to the person in charge of that specific activity/field trip unless otherwise indicated. No phone-in registrations. 3. Parents who need to leave their children of any age unaccompanied at a field trip must put their children under the direct care of another parent and leave a Permission Form with the attending parent or the Field Trip Coordinator. Under no circumstances should children, regardless of age, be simply dropped off at a field trip site. 4. Cancellations need to be made as soon as you know you cannot attend the event. This may make it possible for someone else who may have been placed on a waiting list to attend. Any prepaid fees for the field trips are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in the newsletter. The money will go into the SCCHE general fund. However, in some cases a family on a waiting list may 'purchase' your place. Even for free trips, calling to cancel is the courteous thing to do so that someone else may attend. 5. Periodically review the Field Trip Regulations (SCCHE handbook) for a reminder of the rules. 6. Please, always remember that we represent our Lord and SCCHE at any function SCCHE plans, therefore proper, modest, and tasteful attire should be worn. Parents must monitor their children's behavior at all times and take appropriate measures if rudeness, disruption, or misbehavior is detected. |
